Who We AreAdvocates for a Balanced Education is a newly formed Colorado non-profit organization of concerned educators, administrators, lawmakers and business leaders. The organization arose in response to concerns about the marginalization of courses of study in the arts and humanities as a result of high-stakes testing at the state and federal levels and Colorado’s Commission on Higher Education’s Admission Requirement (HEAR) scheduled for full implementation in 2010. What We DoWe want Colorado’s youth to grow into Coloradoans who will lead balanced, productive, and meaningful lives. Believing that courses of study in the arts and humanities contribute to that kind of well-being, ensuring the inclusion of those areas in Colorado’s K-12 public education system is important. For that purpose, our goal is to assist educational policy makers at all levels of state and local government, as well as the citizenry of communities in supporting the inclusion of the arts and humanities as an essential part of Colorado’s K-12 public education system. Our current campaign is Call to Action.
